Satellite Dish Installation
The DIRECTV satellite dish installation is a simple process. For single unit homeowners, as long as you have clear line of sight to the southern sky, the local installer will place and secure the satellite in an appropriate place. For the residents of apartment buildings, condos, or multi-unit buildings, the dish can be placed and secured on the roof or on your patio, balcony, or other suitable locations. You can ask your landlord about where you can place the dish. The most important consideration is that the dish is secured on a location with a clear view of the southern sky. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ruled that prohibits local government and landlords from putting unreasonable restrictions on installing satellite dishes that are less than one meter in size. You can ask your courteous customer representative about your options at 1-866-320-5002.

DIRECTV High Definition (HD) and Blu-ray DVD
There is no direct compatibility between DIRECTV and Bluray because these are two different technologies and they require different equipment and interfaces to connect. DIRECTV service connects to the satellite networks and delivers TV contents via satellite dishes. Blu-ray is a very high quality DVD players that produces the highest picture and sound quality to HD TVs through Blu-ray disc players. Bluray, not blueray, uses technology that enables more information to be stored on into a disk. This technology allows more information to be stored onto a disk to deliver much higher quality pictures and sounds to your high definition TV set. Developed by Sony, the highest quality pictures and sounds are displauyed on your Plasma TV, LCD TV, and Rear Project DLP TV. You can buy or rent Bluray DVD movies from Best Buy or Netflix and enjoy them at your leisure as you would with regaular DVDs. But you would need to purchase a Bluray DVD player to play and truly appreciate the amazing picture produced by the Bluray technology. The way to get High Definition on your television is to order HDTV service from DIRECTV or Cable TV companies for a small monthly fee (less than $10/month) and you will get 1080i picture quality.  The Who's Who of SBC DSL

Written by: Patrick Oborn - Dec 3, 2008

So you want SBC DSL but you're looking for a bit more information? Make sure you know the company to which people are referring when they try to answer your questions. SBC is actually a group of several companies and they have as many differences as do completely separate companies.

SBC traces its roots to the original Bell Company. It then broke off into the Southwestern Bell Company. Just a few years ago, SBC acquired Ameritech which offers service in the mid west. It also acquired Pacific Bell on the West coast and a few locations on the east. The behemoth of a company offers a service called SBC DSL however the service is provided by the underlying companies which still operate much like separate companies.

Recently Yahoo DSL was introduced which was simply a branding initiative. The underlying service is SBC DSL. When signing up for the service, your experience may be quite different depending on which region you are in. When reading message boards or consumer group's comments on SBC DSL, just make sure you know which region the person is talking about and don't take their comments too seriously if they're not in your region. Once again, these divisions are as different as separate companies because not too long ago they were separate companies. Also remember when reading chat boards and consumer groups that DSL service is highly dependant on your distance from the phone company so complaint people have about bandwidth may not apply to you as they could be farther from the phone company than you and therefore have a weaker signal.
